The open steering gear and air tube from carb to air cleaner are regular. The final drives of step axle are to narrow for a F30.

As mentioned on the one post below the open gear steering makes it a Farmall Regular, one of the early Farmalls. The F12 came out with adjustable rear wheels that slid on the axles. That is what made the F12 so popular.

Check top of left frame rail. ( also on engine but I don't remember where). There should be a serial number there, compare to serial number lists on this site or tractor data site.

It is a Farmall Regular. BEFORE the F20, F12, F30. "Regular" is what that tractor came to be known as. When first introduced, it was simply called a FARMALL.

As stated below it is a Farmall Regular Open steering gear and ensign carburetor. It has had an F-20 manifold put on it with vertical exhaust.
Regular would have had down exhaust with potato muffler. Regulars got oil filter after 1929 and the extra support brackets at the front of tranny to frame would have been on later models 1931 and 1932. Flat machined area for serial # on block should be front left side of engine. oldiron29

Thanks for the replies,,, i was confused with the exhaust and the front steering.... reason for my interest is my grandfather started our farm with regular or a f12 and i would like to get one personally im glad it is a regular,,,, another question whats the determination for being a gray tractor or red tractor?

Wouldn't that be an aftermarket gas manifold, made by Robin or someone else, since the Regulator carburetor bolts up to it, rather than an F20 carburetor?

As said, the 'Regular'(1924-1931) predates the other F-series.F12,('34-'38);F14-(38-39);F20,(32-39);F30(30-39).All IH/farmall tractors were gray, till Nov.1936,when the corporate color change from grey to red occurred. One way to tell if F12/14 is the adjustable bar axles. The Regular,F20,F30 have drop box final drives. The Regular alone has the open steering. There are other differences that you will learn over time.
