Using the leaf blower to clean out the 53. Found some real treasures in the trunk and interior.

Awwwww thats so cute. Looking at that price I DCwould guess it is
almost as old as the car. P.S. you might want to take a look on Ebay.
You might be shocked what that box is worth.

Well about five more minutes of Internet digging around. It was from Canada and was pink and made 57-62. Looks like it was made again later. Just type it into your search engine. Looks as if you are having fun.

I remember buying the pink Elephant as a kid. Just not sure the box is all that old, but interesting to see
just the same. Older cars like your Merc , were still being driven when I was a kid , but not for very long.
So much road salt used here the cars literally disappeared before your eyes.Very few cars actually could
make it past ten years, and those that did , were full of Bondo.

I sold an 87 Oldsmobile that had been parked for almost ten years. While cleaning it out I found a few McDonalds french fries still in the paper pouch.

Still looked like a french fry-- fresh from the fryer!

Taste test results to be posted at a later date.

Remember though Bruce, what you see on eBay are asking prices, I'd be surprised (shocked even) if any of those mid to higher priced ones sell. Obviously, old popcorn cartons or bags aren't exactly rare from the number of listings I see.

when I was cleaning a crewcab I'd driven 10 years I found the inside door handle well on the side my daughter sat full of melted chocolate covered raisins. gross

In the space over the windshield of my 38
GMC truck I found a letter that was an
angry response to a "Dear John" letter to
someone serving in the military during
WWII. I kept it and would display it with
the truck but don't because the names are
legible and don't feel right making
something so personal public.

Plates on this Merc are 1969. Ironically the same year as Dad's 52 refused to start any more. A box of Lucky Elephant and a ten cent comic book and I was happy (and out of money) in those days.
Mike M, those levers on the dash are part of the flight deck styling of the 52-53 Merc dash and probably my favourite part of the car. Controls the vents and heater.

You Could copy the letter with the names bloked out ,.. it would be interesting ameriacana ,,.. In 1974 i bought a 1969 Marquis convertible from a car auction house for 600 bucks, Very nice Too , Except it needed clean up ...i pulled all sorts of junk and trash from out from under the back seat and between the tunnel where the split bench bucketseats mount ,.,. my Dad laughed at me when i said , I never saw one of these before , as i held up a couple packages of condoms i had found under there

(quoted from post at 18:48:08 12/16/17) Pull it up to your 80 gal compressor and put some 100psi to all those crevices.

I did use the air compressor for some of the clean up but had to be careful. A concentrated high pressure blast can tear things apart that I want to save. Its looking a lot better inside and out now.
