How heavy is front of an H farmall?

Weather and time permitting I am going to look at an H Farmall on Sunday. Thing is the trauler I have does not have center ramps. Is 10k lbs axles so plenty of capacity there. But I need to figure how to load the narrow front. I have some ATV ramps rated for 1,000 lbs thinking maybe if I block them up at the half way point. Or otherwise how thick of planks would hold it? Worst case I have a couple rail road ties I could drive the front end up on. Loading height of the trailer is about 16-18 inches of the ground. Thanks, Sod Buster

Until I had a 3rd ramp welded
together I used 2- 2x12 treated
boards about 5 ft long.stacked em and screwed them together, and put a
cleat on top to catch trailer. I
have a Ford 960. Maybe lighter
than an H. Using just 2 ramps is
tricky. And if you ain't ever done
it.........and on a new tractor?!!
Braver than me.

(quoted from post at 18:41:11 12/12/17) When we load my Ms, we drive on backwards, then once the rear wheels are on, my brother slides the ramps in to the middle.
this trailer the ramps dont slide all the way to the center.

1000# ramps should be OK. H weighs around 3500-4000#, can't imagine the front would be more than 1000#. I'd use the method others have suggested of loading at an angle using two ramps. Done it lots of times before.

to use two ramps drive up at a 90 close to ramps with one back wheel then turn front wheels and closest back wheel on to ramps other rear wheel will follow fronts. might take a little tweeking of ramp position etc. but have done it a few times.

You do not need three ramps. I loaded tricycle tractors for years with just two ramps. Just drive the tractor up to the trailer and then shortly before the ramps steer hard left or right. Then run the front end up the ramp. At the top of the ramp steer hard to the center. When in the center of the trailer straighten pout and finish loading the tractor.

The attached link shows how the other posters are talking about loading at an angle. I did not find any of how I do it without going at an angle. But either way works and is not hard to do.

I would NOT use the lawn mower ramps you will bend them.
Loading tricycle tractor.

Take the ATV ramp and a few blocks along just in case. If the brakes aren't so good on the H you might want the center ramp for unloading it.

Put 1 ramp in the middle, get the nose on the trailer, and move the ramp back in front of the rear tire?

Or, FYI, I have a rough cut, true 2x8" board, and it handles a JD B / 40 / Farmall H fine. Looks a little iffy, but hasn't broke yet! :p

Thanks guys. Cross your fingers on the weather. I also You tubed the loading with two ramps. Not sure I'm brave enough to try that with an unfamilar tractor.

I used a ramp like that for many years. The one I use now is white oak, 12" wide x about 2 1/2" thick.

Because tires would not clear fenders if backed on I have removed the jack from my bumper pull trailer, dropped the hitch on the ground then driven tractors onto it from the front of the trailer.
No ramps required.
Bring along a floor jack to pick up trailer hitch and hook back on truck.
Unload the same way.

I made on out of treated 2x6s. Two side by side with about a 1 inch gap in the middle. I made it the same length as the other two ramps. It worked for my H I use to have and the Super C I have now. Loaded with two ramps before that.

I often wondered if that would work but never tried it. I would put the front on then move the ramp over. Thanks for posting.

I have seen 2 ramps used and it is so scary just seeing it done NO WAY would I try that. I would get a plank of 12" wide and make one, if thought might be to lite would just double it and for that height trailer 5' should be good so out of one 10' you could make a double unit. The front will not be as heavy as one of the back wheels.

I go to quite a few tractor pulls. Loading and unloading a tricycle tractor, just approach at a angle leave in first gear . Don?t stop and fool around. Unload same way just back off don?t stop turn front wheels to align with one ramp.

If my thinking cap is on right, that 1000# aluminum ramp blocked in the center (or maybe 2 places) should take 2000#, no way that front end is that heavy.
As for angle loading, I would not try it on a unfamiliar tractor, especially with someone watching!
