We got toned out at 23:11 last night for smell of propane in a house. I was sound asleep but I went because there is always the potential of it being a big deal. There were already drivers for both pieces that were running so I hopped into the back of the quint truck. Snow was coming down hard with quite a bit on the roads, but we got there and up the long driveway. When the driveway turned into steep down hill the driver asked the captain if he wanted to go down there. The captain said yes so we went, but when the driver went to turn to take the branch towards the house the truck just slid straight into the police cruiser that was parked there. I would have had the On Spots deployed myself but the driver didn't feel the need. There was very little damage but policy calls for investigation by the state police when any police cruiser is involved in an accident. I got to bed at around 2:15, and no, the sensors didn't detect any propane.

Had to use them last night , call was a chimney fire old wood frame house with fireplace insert. I didn't have to stay out as long showcrop got back at 1:00

I was coming down a steep mountain road with our old Ward LaFrance several years ago with fresh snow on the road with the On Spots down and still went for a heck of a ride. I am not new to driving trucks on slippery roads as I plowed snow for the county road dept. for 30+ years but I never had a ride like this was.

I started to take a pix but did'N.. Yesterday morning I went thru the drive thru at Bo's for a biscuit there was a nice Ford truck with a snow plow an a spreader on the trailer hitch

I figure they were lost    are they stole it...

(quoted from post at 20:14:54 12/10/17) If that was my department the poor guy would never live that one down.

On the way back to the station I said "It is a good thing that "Red" is not still here, and the driver answered "Yeah I would not be driving for a long time" Then I remembered something else and said "If Red were still around we would have had chains on the trucks."

The chains wouldn't have mattered much with the rear brakes locked up, assuming they lock. You needed chains on the front to make the turn!

Thanks for your service and dedication. I was once on a volunteer department myself and know what it is like to get out of a warm bed in the middle of the night or just start a
family dinner and get paged out.
