Been watching the Olympic trials on TV. I find this sport fascinating and have watched it for a lot of years now. Who would ever thought that sliding a rock down an icy alley could require so much strategy and skill? Any curlers or fans here?

Hi,I've gotten to curl a few times locally it's actually a lot of fun and people of almost any age can participate. And it's customary for members of the winning team to buy a beverage of choice for the non-winners so how can you possibly loose?

My Dad was on a curling team many years back. They must have been some kind of big deal because I remember Mom tuning in the tournament on the radio and we listened to Curling. With that background I like to watch it .

I live near the Canadian border. Canadian radio station has been talking up Curling as a dying sport since young people have little interest. I can see why. In my opinion, it is horribly boring. Buy hey, I think football is boring too. My wife cannot stand to watch Curling, but since she is Scottish, likes the "idea" of it.

It's actually about the only "sport" I can stomach more than 2 minutes of. Grew up watching it when there was absolutely nothing else on our one tv station. Back then it was a mans sport, they wore cardigan sweaters and used real brooms and slid real stones. Watched a couple minutes of the Scottish womens team vs the Swedish womens team the other night. I would have paid a lot more attention back in the day if the curlers had looked like that back then. Funny part was the Scottish girls were blond and blue eyed and the Swedish girls were dark with dark eyes! You'd think it'd be the other way around.

My wife and I can watch curling for hours. I have a curling app on my tablet. Thats hard enough. The real thing takes a lot of skill. I like to watch them strategize and see does it play out.

Here on the Canadian Prairies, a substantial number of settlers were of Scots descent. Villages and towns placed a high priority on curling rinks, trap shooting fields and ball diamonds. The kids start curling in school, and some go on to be the top of the sport. It's a great game of skill and strategy, played on an ever changing ice surface. It's a great social experience, whether as a player or spectator. Different league rules allow for "shooting sticks"(for no-crouch throwing), and "no sweeping", based purely on ones skill at throwing. Watching a ninety year old consistently lay rocks in the house without sweepers can be a humbling experience.
So far, curling seems to be keeping ahead of the computer age, and the kids are active and willing participants. unc

I am in northern Michigan. I get Canadian radio stations from Sudbury and Sault Sainte Marie. Both are promoting Curing-school classes for young people - trying to revive the sport.

The only woman i ever loved was a Scottish hottie with blue eyes and blond hair. She
had to work today so I am watching curling alone at the moment. 😃

A lot of folks on here seem to think curling is a bygone sport! Popular with viewers
of the Olympics. Growing worldwide. A game of great skill where people of all types
are equal. A few years back I tried to sign up at the local club. They told me they
had a very long waitlist. I would enjoy watching some of what you mentioned.

I won curling tickets to the Olympic Trials in Omaha Nebr. about two weeks ago. It was fun to watch & would be a fun sport to play.

Dave I watch it some and there are clubs around that do it. Much like model rockets, racing and so on. Have been tempted to try it to!!

Good curling is interesting to watch as the skill needed to place the curling stones is quite something. It does not have the thrill level other sports have but then which other sport do you know that has the socialness that curling has.
