1964 John Deere 2010 leaking hydraulic fluid

Just bought a 1964 John Deere 2010 Started it up and engaged PTO to warm up After about 30 seconds it started leaking hydraulic fluid from whats looks like the inspection ports for clutch Can I still run it without turning on PTO to move it and what possibly could be wrong
 
Oh yes John Deere's not so favorite child. Not sure if its the right answer but on my 2010 I just stocked up on hytrans and accepted thats how it was. After what the shop wanted just to diagnose it I sent it down river. Somebody wanted the engine for something only thing good about that tractor. Sorry I'm not very helpfull. Sod Buster.
 

Wish that you had asked here or on the JD forum of this site about the 2010 prior to purchase.
While I bleed JD green, I have to admit that the 2010 is the most sorry piece of chit ever built by Deere. Sell it now before it drags you down deeper.
 

Hyd oil leak could be failed seal on frt of trans on pto drive shaft or possibly hyd pump drive shaft. Hyd pump can be disengaged by moving lever(key 28) down.

As with any other model of JD or any other brand tractor, it could be a seal or a number of other things. They can all develop leaks over the years and need repair. You're going to have to start trouble shooting the issue or get it to someone who can.
 
Remove the plate on the bottom of the housing and look up in with a flash-lite. Maybe the hdy pump or the transmission seal. From the round hole on the Rt side you can see the line up to the valve for the rear hdy.
 
after removing the inspection plate and draining the hydraulic fluid out i started tractor to see where the fluid was coming from and seems to be from behind the internal pump. Could it be the pump itself or the line for power steering. What is the likely of the two.
 
You need to do more to isolate where the leak is coming from anything from above will run down the front of the transmission. The leak could be from the steering box above, the remote control valve above, the priority valve or possibly an O ring that seals the pump to the front of the transmission. Clean up the top and front of the transmission area, put oil back in, start it up and narrow down the location of the leak. Just saying theirs no good at guessing where it is leaking from. I've had leaks in all of the areas, let me know if it is the pump, no need to split the tractor to get it out if that is the problem.
 
How can I isolate the leak from the inspection plate. I have it completely cleaned up in there Also have a inspection camera but once I started the tractor Im afraid to put the camera in because of the moving parts

ith a good flash lite you should be able to see where the leak is coming from. For checking the higher areas look under the dash for power steering / remote control valve issues and into the round hole on the Rt side of the bell housing at the pipe to the power steering and the divert-er valve below that. Any thing lower than that is most likely an O ring on/ in the pump which you should be able to see from the bottom or the gasket between the transmission and the front cover of the transmission.
PS, just happen to think of this, any leak from the rear main seal of the engine will also show up in that area as well..
