heavy duty bearing

I have seen these heavy duty double bearing four bolt flange bearings, but they are fairly pricy. I found one on ebay with a 1 15/16 id hole. I am going to try it on my flail mower drum drive shaft. With the belts fairly tight, there is a lot of strain on this bearing. If it doesn't work out I am out 15.00 with free shipping. for a 200.00 dollar bearing. Maybe these bearings are not used a lot because of the price? Getting my mower ready for next year even if we don't get rain. Stan

Most bearings like that are designed to the lowest end of the standards and are typically only good for low speed application. That said, think about what else could possibly be damaged if the bearing fails and the cost to replace those parts as well. You may very well find out that the money saved could cost you far more than the difference in cost over the better bearing.
