2002 Chevy 4.3 part ID?

I have a wrecked 2002 Chevy Astro Van I got at auction that I am fixing up. Front end crash. I found most parts I need at a salvage yard but am a little stumped with the air-cleaner box and air-intake hose. I found many other 2002 and 2003 Astros but none have an air-intake like this. Odd-ball grid and some electronics I do not recognize. Not in any of the other Astros I looked at. Anybody here happen to know what this part is and does? Van is running fine right now - but I need to get some sort of air-cleaner hooked back up.

Looks like the mass air flow sensor to me. ECM would use the readings from that to monitor the air going into the engine to my understanding..

Thanks. I just looked it up and found it. Holy cow that thing is expensive. It is just the plastic broken on this one. I
have to see if there is some way to weld or glue the plastic. I wish I knew what it was. It if is ABS, I know how to repair
it. Odd that all the other Astro I looked at do not have it. Seems it is for the "high output" engine only.

That is some sort of aftermarket MAF you have there. OE would have been an aluminum housing and would not have broken. You should be able to find one at a salvage yard, very common part. Every 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, and 7.4 built since 1996 had one.

That mass airflow sensor has many applications if you wanted to find one from salvage. S10's, s-blazers, or almost every GM gm V6 car or suv of that vintage
