Update on Grandpa's Tractor

So I finally made it over to look at the John Deere B that my grandpa bought new. It's a 51' that was bought in 52'. It was sold on my dad's auction in the May of 99'. The guy that bought it was 4 miles away. He contacted my cousin to see if I was interested. When I got there, I told my buddy, yep that's it. Looks almost like it did the day it left. Definitely in its work clothes. The owner was as about as nice as they come. He's a Deere collector and has a nice collection of New Generstion tractors, along with a little of everything else. He gave us a tour of his whole collection. He recently sold the farm to his son and had to get rid of some things. The price was in the ballpark. We agreed on the final price and his parting words were that he was just happy it was going back to it's family.

The tractor has traveled a total of 9 miles from the day it left the dealership. It longest journey will be to my place, which is about 11 miles away from where it is now. I didn't need another tractor, but my best buddy made a great point. This chance will never come up again. Super grateful that the owner thought of me before selling it. Super guy!

Great story, nice to see you're keeping it in the family.

I too have been working on a couple of my grandpa's tractors. As long as I'm around they're not going to get sold.

Yeah that is a good point. Maybe hearing my better
half say those words so often, I almost started to
believe them. I should have said my shed didn't
have room for another tractor.
