Hello guys I have a chance to purchase an 7000 and an 8000 with a single front wheel. Just wanted to know if this is legit? I have not ever laid my eyes on one. Sounds very unique. what models were all offered single wheel and dual wheel narrow front in this era? What could one plan to pay for one? This is a collector tractor I am sure. Any help would be great. thank you much.

Dunno about the 8000.
The 7000 is probably what Ford called a
7200 which was a row crop, platform
tractor. It would be about the same as a
5200 (RC, platform 5000)
Those were available as WF, dual NF and
single NF.
I have their little sister, a 4200 (RC,
platform 4000) with dual NF.
While there is no such thing as a rare
Ford some models were uncommon and those
would be uncommon. Photo is just one I
grabbed off of google - 7200, dual nf.
The guys on the Ford board could tell you
more.

I went to the parts pages, (I use Messick's because they work easily,) and under steering system for both 7200 and 8000/9000, I found dual front tires offered. The way the hydrostatic steering system is built it is very, very easy to substitute a narrow for a wide front on both of these tractors, and it is easy to get the unit to sub in as the Farmall fronts are very nearly a bolt up replacement. I have done this on my 9000 puller, and I expect that this is what you will find is the case with the 7000 and 8000 that you are going to look at.

After reading Welding man's response to you post on the Ford forum I want back to the parts pages and found the diagram showing the single front. It still remains however that it is very easy to sub in a Farmall unit, so check it out well.
