New Idea sheller trouble

Need some advice on my super sheller. I can not keep the tops of the corn stalks out of the wagon! I have the fan running full speed, the cobs come out clean/whole, and the corn is not cracked. That leads me to believe the concave is set right. The manual says to run the snapping rolls as close together as possible, and i am. The only thin i can think of is the "shelled corn retarder" is not letting the fan blow them out? Any suggestions? Other than the pieces of stalk the sample is great.

The stalks should not be making it to the shelling bed. I have had problems with stalks plugging the cobb elevator under that removable plate when the stalks are froze. Instead of snapping the ears it snaps the stalk off and it try's to travel up the cob elevator and plugs up. What was the temperature when you did this shelling?

Also, are those rolls above where the cobb elevator drops the cobs into the Sheller operating and spitting any stalk material over the rear of the picker?

I should add it was 10 degrees F the day these pictures were taken. Notice the green cover is off the area above the cob elevator. We had to keep cleaning out the plugs of stalks under that cover. We tried everything including just picking one row at a time. We had to quit. Once in warmed up it picked perfectly.

This was taken a few years ago so I am having trouble remembering what the corn in the wagon looked like. I am pretty sure it had more stalk debris in the wagon but not sure.

yes the rollers above the elevator are working. this is about to drive me crazy. its just the last joint/ top of the stalk. Its my first year with it, it may just be the nature of the machine, but i could get a perfect sample with the combine.

If I recall correctly dad, the corn was clean in the wagon, we were having issues with the corn breaking off at the ground due to the cold or the variety of corn that was planted that year, or the fact that it was double rows that was planted, or a combination of all three. I do remember that it was cold that day.

How many stalks are getting in? We had one of those pickers and I never saw anything but clean corn from it, so if there is more than an occasional stalk something is wrong. Picking frozen corn should not matter.

We use one but never have tried it in frozen corn. One thing I do no ground speed has to match the roller speed or you will get what you are talking about. I set the pto speed then play with the ground speed till I see the stalk just running thru just right. I can get a perfect clean corn once things are running right.
