Harvest done and a great Thanksgiving!!!!

Wed. night I emptied the grain dryer and we are officially done with 2017s harvest. The soybeans where just fair to good. They made right around 65 BPA. The corn crop was gigantic. LOL It was the second highest BPA we ever raised, 268 BPA across scales. It is the largest bushel crop we ever had due to more acres. Everything is full including one machinery shed that has not had corn stored in it for over 20 years.

I really feel that the price will get a little better after the harvest glut but it will not raise a lot. There is just too many bushels out here. Plus the guys are already talking about planting as much or more for next year. Supply and demand will eventually drive the price low enough that some of these fellow will be forced to change.

The cattle yards are full with reasonable priced cattle. So some of that corn will be fed out. Should be a profit but once again not a huge one.

On the home front we had the three "new" Grand kids here for their first Thanksgiving. They make the Grand Kids range from almost 31 years old down to six months old. Great meal with a bounty of food for all to eat. Had 12 of the foster "kids" here too. Funny calling them kids as the youngest is pushing 30 now. LOL

Then top it off with some great weather for a change. Sunny and warm. Sure beats drizzle/cloudy and cold. We have not seen a lot of sun shine lately.

My Mother was in heaven holding all three "NEW" Great Grand kids. She knitted them all ne blankets this fall. So they will be warm. Side story about her knitting this fall for another day.

Hope all of you had a good holiday too.

Nice. Happy thanksgiving to all. We are visiting family in DC. About 40 total at dinner 4 generations. Plenty of great grand kids.
