Like most people, My wife and I hate commercials, especially all the political and lawyer and auto ones.
Therefore we most always mute the TV during commercials.
We have one TV that automatically mutes itself [b:e29ac74899]ONLY [/b:e29ac74899]during commercials??
Has it learned to do this?
This is not a joke and it has been doing this for over two weeks. I wish all three TVs would start this behavior.

If I remember right that technology came in ten or fifteen years ago. Seems like my dad had a TV that could do that.

I don't think that is the situation.
Years ago, I had a TV that had "smart sound" and it would hold volume at same level as setting. Don't remember it ever doing this.
This is a cheap TV in kitchen with no such features.

many years ago, Israel developed a VHS player/recorder that cut out commercials during a recording. Simply triggered on the
short 'blank spot', as the program cut to a commercial. However it was not allowed to be imported to the USA,

That's quite a feature!

What brand is it? I want one!!!

And the volume control, so many commercials blast the volume!

And DVD's are the worst, the movie sound is designed for theater acoustics, the action is WAY too loud, then the speaking scenes are so low I can't hear them!

This TV is about 13 years old and it just started doing this a couple of weeks ago.
We first thought it was a provider problem until we noticed it only muted during commercials and only on this small TV. All other three TVs are same as before.

Wife just told me that this only happens with ONE TV station. All other are normal.

Dish TV records all programs from 8 to 11 PM on the 4 broadcast networks, automatically, every night. You can watch them any time, and you can select a feature that skips the commercials. Each program
drops off after 7 days, so you always have 7 days of prime time programs recorded at any given time. Too bad nothing on the broadcast networks is worth watching. . .

My wife and I don't watch a whole heck of a lot of TV, but when we do, we watch programs on an Amazon Fire box and we usually only watch older TV shows and some on Netflicks.
No commercials.

Amateurs at the station. Not getting all the correct switches thrown at the correct time.

Why is only one of four TV effected?

Do you have all 4 TVs on at the same time?

As stated, this TV is in kitchen and is only on when we are in kitchen. TV in den is always on.
TV in the kids play room is connected in such a fashion that both TV must be on same channel. This TV is not effected either, commercials continue in play room but are muted in Kitchen ? ?
So, only one or two other TVs are on at same time.
I will just enjoy it while it lasts, but would be really excited if all worked this way.
My friend is a whiz with electronics and is as puzzled as I am.

I have to laugh every once in a while when our local station does that! Makes for some funny moments occasionally. Usually happens on the weekends. That must be when the rookies work.

I remember when we got our first TV.Just around 1960,give or take.It was a Zenith, and I am still using it in my cellar. It gets all the PBS stations, and all the others I watch.I hooked up to basic cable six months ago,and discovered what a waste that is.I see no need to pay $50.a month to look at a TV set when I can watch what I want for free anyway. When the trial period is over for that it will be gone.Cable is much clearer though, and it usually works during storms, where my antenna sometimes won't.Although in the storms a couple of weeks ago the cable was out for days, but my antenna was working fine.
