He hunts about a mile from me.
Both piebald and albino are legal game here.
Myself, I spent 11 hours in the blind and saw nothing. Not a deer, squirrel or even a bird.
He's a little buck and could wander that mile over to my place.
I'll shoot him if he comes.

Me too. I was wondering what I was supposed to be looking at till UD mentioned deer. Then looking again, now thinking I knew what I was looking for, there he was.....kind of like those eye twisters that show you a scrambled up picture and ask if you see this or that.

Bummer on not seeing anything. I talked to my brother about 9:30am yesterday, and he had seen 9 deer by that time. By the end of the day, he said there was only about a 15 minute window where there wasn't at least one deer within his sight. Several spike bucks, a couple forks, and an 8, plus does and fawns. He's holding out for something bigger. There were lots of shots around me as I was out moving hay and cutting wood today. We are only about 20 miles southeast of you. I see deer daily on my drive to and from Aitkin. I hope today is a more productive day for you.
The albino is neat though. Never seen one on my farm, but there are several in Father Hennipin state park down at Isle.

We did have a pair of piebald deer frequenting the land here, about 8 years ago, for a few years prior. One was a doe that I saw for several years, followed by an 8pt buck of average size for around here. I let them be, and so did my neighbor, interesting to see in the wild, vs some dust collecting wall hanger that most would make out of them. We hunt for meat, not horns or fur. I get doe permit(s)when they are offered for this zone, and fill those tags. Large bucks are a rarity in this vicinity, though you will see signs of them, you rarely will see one except during rut. Doe taken here average 170lbs as is, (not field dressed). That is a consistent number, older ones are heavier, but the meat is not nearly as good. Bucks taken that looked decent, 150-160 lbs not field dressed. It's hard to judge in the field, there have been a few over the years at 200lbs, but it seems you will do just fine if you get doe tags and take one of those. Doe of the right age and size will yield the most amount of meat and as long as you don't take one with the teeth worn out, the meat is excellent. There are a lot of young ones around this year. Myself, neighboring landowner and my friends that hunt here try to avoid taking any of the younger bucks. I remember one year where a combined 5 young bucks were taken and there is no doubt it is part of the reason you don't see mature ones, that and they are smart and know how to avoid human contact. The below link is where a bunch of albino deer reside, I remember learning about this when we were responding to a proposal to build a large state prison there after the army depot closed down. Never realized there was so many in one place.
Seneca White Deer

The white deer on Seneca Depot are not Albino. When the base was fenced in, the deer started inbreeding, which caused a recessive gene to come forward causing the lack of pigmentation.
When the base was open a lottery was conducted to be able to hunt, with yet another lottery conducted to take a white deer.

The base closed and now hosts a prison and a troubled childrens facility. A Mennonite businessman has bought the the majority of base. An organization called Seneca White Deer has leased the rights on base and conduct tours to see the deer.

Most hunters do not shoot them . Probably the best thing would be to shoot and remove from the population because they are defective deer.
