Radiator gasket meterial

The radiator shop provides me with a strip of material that is sticky on at least one side, about 1 inch wide. Always makes me a little uneasy because it's pretty thick, but it always works well. If I didn't have
that, I would use pretty thick cork and seal it with Permatex Aviation Gasket Sealer.

I use a rubberized cork when I rebuilt my radiators on my 10-20 McCormick Deering and my John Deere GP. It is 1 foot by 3 feet 1/8th thick. I works well and is easy to cut with a utility knife and hole punch. I had to machine the 10-20 lower tank flange as it was severely rusted and not flat.

I used plain old gasket material, neoprene I think, with permatex ultrablack on both sides of material, ain't leaked yet.

I used rubberized cork on my MM ZA radiator. Added a small amount of silicone
on each side during assembly. Tighten them down evenly and carefully so the
gasket is supported equally or you will get thin spots where the gasket
squishes out.
