PLease Help - Mystery Tractor

We bought an old IH tractor - the seller said it was a 416 - which as far as I can tell doesn't exist as a model. It's a diesel. The only number I can find on the right side is A440003B001967, made in England. Tire size back 12.4x28, front 6x16. Any help would be appreciated - I've been through tractordata already. Thanks so much

Hi, my first thought is an IH 444 as both the rad and fuel tank cap are visible above the hood. The IH 434 had the rad and fuel
caps covered by a lid the full length of the hood. The B414 would have had the fuel tank cap and the air cleaner above the hood.

Is it Diesel or Gas? The B414, 434 and 444 were are made in Bradford, UK, very simple and reliable tractor. There were models that
were shipped on crates to Louisville, KY and assembled there. The USA assembled units had Delco vs Lucas electrics for UK built.

Looks sort of like a 454 to me, but the
guys that actually own a 454 might know
better than me

From the picture it looks very similar to my B414. Very good tractor, i have a few oil leaks but nothing major. Depending on where you live, if it gets cold in the winter and you want to use it then, upgrade to a 12volt glow plug system. i can start in -20C with no issues.

Hi, that is a Bradford UK built 444 tractor and they are good sturdy tractors. If you have trouble starting it the lads on this site will tel you how to convert it to 12 volt glowplugs. MJ

I believe that it is a B414 or similar. Not a bad little tractor but any parts may be hard to find. I have known of some that had problems with the fuel pump being hard to find. Solution, use an electric pump. They ae not sought after and do not command much money when sold at auction.

Make sure that the glow plug system is working good and it should start and run well.

There is a problem with the flywheel and we are trying to find one. Someone from tractor data suggested it's a 354 - luckily 414 and 354 have the same parts manual so hopefully will be the same part.

Hi if it is a Diesel, it should have a UK build BD-154 engine with a flywheel with a dual clutch. One for transmission, one for
PTO. The BD-154 engine was used in many different models, B414D, 434, 444, 384,364 and industrial models like 3414,3444. Also used
in some smaller crawlers.
