John Deere 704 v hay rake

Just wondering if anyone would possibly have a book on this rake. I bought it this past weekend and would like to know how to properly set it up to rake. I could also use some good advise on the operation of it. Keith

I forgot to add I hope you have better luck with your 704 than I did with the 704 I bought new. The rear tubing frame broke 3 times in the 1st yr of ownership. After warranty expired I made rear parts with much heavier walled tubing & it still broke. I discovered there are no hinge points where rear wheel frames attach to long tubes that rake wheels attach to. I traded 704 for my H&S Hi-cap & it's raked 1000's upon 1000's of acres. My neighbor modified his 704 so it hinged and raked may acres with no breakage.

I think the 704 was made by tonutti. A couple of John Deere madels were. My neighbor has one and it not a good rake. It is always broke. He will buy anything that has the magic words on it, John Deere. I have a sitrex bifold and I don't have any trouble with it. He also pays more for John Deere disc mowers than I do for Kuhn, because the John Deere is the best, even though they are both Kuhns. This is not meant to be a rant against John Deere, because I have several JD tractors and equipment. I try to look at other brands and try to pick the best for the money.

PS: yes 704 was built for JD by Tonutti.[/url]
