Wheel bearing noise?

Ford Golden Jubilee--has a high pitched "squeal" coming from the R.R. wheel. Thought it was a loose brake return spring-found one loose and and reattached it. Squeal is still
present when rotating the axle. Too hard of hearing to use a conventional stethoscope, so can"t tell if it is coming from the wheel bearing or from the differential. Oil level
OK. Would a bad wheel bearing make a high pitched noise, even with the slightest movement? Thinking of tearing it on down and replacing the bearing and hope that solves the
problem. Any and all opinions and ideas welcome. Thanks.

The first thing I would try would be to back off the brake adjustment and see if the sound changes. A brake shoe that drags could cause squealing and would be an easy fix.

Rear wheel and brake drum have been removed. Brake assembly still attached. Loose spring reattached. Don't think the noise is from the naked brake assembly. Thank you.

Try jacking up the R.R. wheel. With the transmission in neutral and the L.R. wheel blocked, turn the R. R. wheel by hand and listen for the noise.

Thank you.--Rear end blocked up and the RR wheel and brake drum removed. With the engine running and in gear, the noise is constant.

Thank you. My thinking too. About has to be the bearing, but wouldn't the oil in the diff. slop down the housing and oil the bearing? Dipstick shows full.

would it help to jack up the left rear wheel and see if oil would get into the right rear wheel bearing.

Thank you. That was my next option, however "markct" suggested checking for a hub rubbing a spring--That was the problem!!!
