Paint Video

I recorded a bit of video sand blasting and painting the JD 2140 wheels today. Keep in mind that mine are not "how to " videos. Just a record
of how I did it. Others may have different or better methods. This is not a show tractor. I just want to keep it from rusting away.
Sand and Paint

A trick I use for keeping over spray off the rim is to take a piece of thin cardboard,(one like a gasket comes in) and hold it against the rim,,take a hammer and cut the cardboard to the shape of the rim, then hold this to the rim as you paint.

Sounds like a good method. I could have done the masking tape and newspaper method too but this was kind of a spur of the moment job and time was limited. The steel wool is cleaning up the tire pretty well.

My opinion is that you did an outstanding job. I don't know if I would call that temporary. If it holds up and protects the metal, the next owner of such a tractor would inherit it. What you did is also outstanding. "Field" repairs generally work out well too. Looks nice, and I'd bet works just fine.

I'm a pretty lucky fella. There's an Amish fella over on RT 25 in Shipshewana that makes metal yard art like shepherds hooks and stuff that will sand blast and powder coat just about anything including pickup truck frames. Someone told me about him, said he's on the north side of Shipshe on the west side of the road, can tell his place by all of the stuff up at the road, and a Deere too. He's reasonably priced and does a good job. I take my stuff to him.

Thanks Mark. I should have taken a few shots of the sand blaster but as I said, that sand gets everywhere and I don't want it in the camera lens.
Mine is just a Princess Auto cheap sand blaster gun attachment running off my compressor. I use screened sand from my own gravel pit because the price is right and it does a great job.
