GMC Terrain O/T

Some of the 4 cylinder ones use oil, '11's being the worst. If it rattles at all, the timing chains are bad. Four cylinder eats chains if the oil is not kept changed.
 
My parents just sent one down the road. Their only complaint was it seemed under powered. Had the 4 banger in it. I believe it was a 2015. Didn't give them any trouble, but only had around 15k on it.
 

Test drove a new decked out 17 a while back, really nice ride, but gutless compared to the new 18 Chevy Equinox. Equinox had other problems and is in its first year body style. Could have bought it for less than the 17 Honda CRV we wound up buying, but wife loves the CRV....
 
Had a used ?12 that got its guts changed under warranty this year, excessive oil usage. Have another ?14 I bought new before the ?12, it has been perfect in 50k miles.
 
Chevy didn't get the 3.6L V6 right until 2012 - and then some people claim its still has issues. I wouldn't own one older than that - they are well known for their timing chain issues. I could see the 2.4 I4 struggling with the weight of a Terrain - especially if its an AWD unit. I had one in a HHR and wasn't at all impressed - even the fuel mileage was a little disappointing. It supposedly had 180hp but the HHR I had was even slower than the old 90s Taurus I had with a 145hp 3.0 V6. Some have a 3.0 V6 that GM only had in production for 3-4 years. I haven't heard anything about that engine.
 
We are on our 3rd Chevy Equinox since 2011 and really like them...Those little 4 cylinders have plenty of power and I have trouble keeping one at the speed limit.....Of course we trade every 2-3 years so have never put lots of miles on one....There are lots of Terrains and Equinox's in my area..
 
awsome vehicle’s with the V6 and AWD . Peice of crap in four cylinder FWD. Wish we had ours but the daughter wrote it off hitting a deer. The Terrian protected her well.
