Farmall 450 diesel help

I recently pulled out 450 diesel out of the barn to start a restoration prodject this winter. Tractor had not ran in 15 years or so. Got it pull started on the diesel side due to dead batteries. As I took it down the road I noticed I had all the gear with the T A ahead. Once the TA is pulled back the tractor starts to roll ahead like it should but dosent seem to want to pull its self and eventually almost comes to a hault. Just curious if anyone could point me in the right dorection. Any help would be appreciated.

The diesel Running is the good part. Yeah!! The TA can be operated in direct with no issues/ To fix the TA it will require a double split at the engine and the TA section of the chassis from the trans. The one way clutch (sprag) is slipping and will not get better on its own. They are great tractors. Jim

Don't pull the head until you have a head gasket. They are like hen's teeth. Or worse.
