I need to change the coolant in our JD 4600, the book says to use JD Cool-Gard or ASTM D4985. I have some Havoline Dex-cool ASTM D3306, do I dare use it? Thanks!

I found some at L&M today that had the correct numbers on it, it only takes 1 gal +1 distilled water, so it's not worth the risk. My father never changed coolant in anything and he had electrolysis ruin a sleeve on his JD 350 crawler.

My 250k mile 2011 Chevy Impala runs just fine on Dex cool. No plugged up radiators or heater coils or bad water pumps.

I worked at a GM dealer from 1999 to 2009 and you better go buy a lotto ticket as I never seen anyone as lucky as you.

My 2006 impala has dexcool in it ..it has 140,000 miles..never any problem either.....my 2005 Silverado also runs with dexcool just fine.

That's kind of a funny thing. I've used Prestone, Zerex, Texaco antifreeze in my vehicles forever and ever. A couple of years ago I replaced the antifreeze in a Deere and used one of them, I think Texaco. Had some problems with it running hot and nothing should ever run hot, especially a diesel. I went to the Deere guy and picked up a new thermostat and naturally they said "JD Cool-Gard" because nothing else meets their specs, so that's what I picked up. That's what I'm using in the Deeres and I'm not having a heating problem in the one, but I also changed the thermostat while I was at it. One thing they told me not to do was to flush the system unless was a last resort. I was going to but didn't on their recommendation. Now a month or so ago I changed the thermostat and antifreeze on my '96 Cummins Dodge and filled it with...Menards green stuff. We'll see if I killed it or not after winter. I needed antifreeze and they either had Prestone or Zerex, I couldn't figure out if it was pink or green, said could add to anything which I think you can't do with pink and green (mix), so the Menards brand said greeen and I've always used green, so green Menards it is. I guess I could have used JD Cool Gard since I have plenty of that, but its kind of gold and I didn't want to waste it. It sure costs more than the others.
