Not much but a preview of whats to come. Most of this melted in the sun today even though the temp did not quite get up to the freezing point. Good thing harvest is long finished. Now i need to get to work on this old 49 Merc.

Wow, with just a wee bit of touch-up, that'd be a [b:510f59c653]calendar-quality photo[/b:510f59c653] for sure!! Just blur the fuel tanks and parts of the trees, progressively until to the edge. Could also just crop them, but that sky is great also!

(quoted from post at 05:53:12 10/27/17) Looks familiar. Mine is a 50 Ford but has the Merc flathead V8.
Nice to see another old Ford in a scenic setting. According to any research I have done on the engines, the Mercury and Ford pickups all had just the 239 Ford flathead V8, not the bigger 255 Mercury engine. I've read that some U.S. versions had a flathead six option.
My plans for this truck at this time only go as far as seeing if the engine will run. After that, who knows?

I had a 1951 Ford that Dad and I went through and got back on the road when I was a Junior in high school. Strawberry red, I had work study at a local body shop and she was a pretty truck. Drove it for 10 years. The flathead was pulled for another car and the guy gave me the truck. We put a 352 in it with an auto trans, made it a very nice truck. Good memories!

We have been getting all the nnalert has, been 30-40mph winds for 3 of the past 4 days now.

Snow moved in late last night, about as much as in your picture, supposed to continue until 7pm.

We are about done with beans here, but corn is only about 1/4 done we have a long, long ways to go. Can't find a cheery picture to post about it! ;)

That is a great picture. As others have said calendar quality. You have posted some pictures of that truck before. I love old trucks. Seeing another picture is like dangling a steak in front of a dog.

Beans are about done here, another 3 weeks for corn. Ol Shameless has got his old snow machine cranked up for sure. Had 7 or 8 big old snowflakes here today. Boys were running corn hard late this afternoon.

That 51 looks pretty good Bob. You should turn the engine over once in a while. Pour some oil down the carb to keep the valves and pistons from sticking. . My Merc sedan sat 30+ years and had stuck valves on 7 cylinders. I was able to unstick them and it runs smooth as a singer sewing machine now. And it gets regular exercise now so that won't happen again.

rusty6 .
Very sharp looking Young Lady....Merc. Sedan..:)

Well, I checked the Engine OIL, and Coolant, on my 51 Ford. Removed Air Cleaner, cranked engine over, there was plenty of draw / suction on top of carb.....:)

No spark.......shall check into....probably run a hot wire from the battery to the Coil:

I have a complete drop in Engine from a 1951.....with all electrical still intact:

Bob.....

Lucky you with a spare engine. You might need to find a vehicle to install it in. If you have no spark then I'd check the points. Probably got a film on the contacts from sitting so long and need a little cleaning up.
