John Deere 50 FIRING PROBLEMS

I have a John Deere 50 that?s a 1956 model. I have recently rewired it, put new points and condenser, rotor button, spark plug wires, and new spark plugs. When I check the firing with my fire checker it?s not a pretty blue spark. It?s an ugly red spark. What should my next plan of attack be on getting pretty blue spark.

There are bad condensers right out of the box. Put the old one back in and check it. Low voltage to the coil can do it check supply side voltage. A failing coil can also cause poor spark quality. Jim

If you are using one of those testers that has a light flash when there is spark I have never seen one that has anything other than an orange or yellow spark.

Autolite # 3116 Plugs..?

I will not put Champions in any of mine..Many defective ones I have come across in the past..

If you are using a Magneto, you MUST use solid (Copper) conductor plug wires..
