Truck won't start

My grandson's Chevy S-10 has no electricity. The battery is good and fully charged. There is no electricity to anything in his truck - no horn, interior lights don't come on when the door is opened, no headlights, when the ignition key is turned there is not even a clicking sound. The truck is dead and I know almost nothing about auto electricity. Could it be a bad ground from the battery to the frame? Or what? I've got to get it moved as it is blocking my garage.

On my Chevy C50,there is a small wire coming off the positive battery clamp that goes to a terminal block. If that wire is 'compromised',the whole system is dead. Just as you describe.

Remove clean and reconnect the battery cables. Corrosion can insulate cable from terminal, acting like dead battery.

Does it have the side terminal battery? They get pretty corroded without looking that way, may want to clean them up.
Not an S-10 but I had a 2001 Chevy truck that wouldn't do anything. As mentioned below the positive cable went to a junction box that was corroded enough not to start, cleaned it up and it cranked and ran fine. I always start with the simple stuff and then move on to the more complicated issues, fuse blocks, relays, etc. A test light comes in handy. Good luck!

Same thing happened on my 1966 SS 396 while I was driving down the street everything went dead. Turned out it was the plug where the wiring harness when into the fire wall. Turn on the headlights and wiggle some of the wiring harnesses and you probably will find it.

Does it have replacement battery cable ends, the kind where you strip about an inch of insulation and clamp the cable into the clamp?
Those will corrode if you don't put a abundant amount of grease on the cable end. I saw my share of cars and trucks towed to the shop because those were corroded.

Could be bad battery connection, or a fuse link.

A fuse link looks like a short piece of wire spliced into another wire. Could be near the battery, of up by the firewall, could be more than one.

If you find them, pull on the wire. If it is burned, the insulation will be stretchy. If it is good it will feel solid, like a normal piece of wire.

Some s10s get there cabin power off a fuse link connected to the battery terminal on the alternator. Its rite there plan as day a EZ check...

I had the same problem with an S-10 back in 91,or was it 92,anyhow it turned out a wire came loose at fuse box killing power to everthing on truck. Guy down at the gin had a red one that was always loseing power. He finally sold it to a mechanic because he couldn't find the problem. Mechanic cleaned the battery cables and drove it another 100,000 mile without a minutes trouble. My brother in law had a blue one that wouldn't crank and it turned out to be a bad connection between ground cable and engine block. Fella that work's at the feed store has been having the same problem on and off for 3 years as your grandson. Me and the mechanic found our problem with a VOM. My brother in law found his using a test light. Fella at the feed store asks people driving S-10s about it and still has the problem.
