I am out here in the CA fires. I had some rubber burn off some pick up truck rims. They were not on the car, so not that crazy extreme heat just lying on a gravel lot and burned. I assume they should not be used, correct?

They are scrap. Rims are not just mild steel. The lost heat treatment can make them either soft enough to bend in a corner, or less likely crack and fail. Call them a grinder base or just take them to the scrap yard. I would take a sledge to them first to be sure someone didn't pick them for use. Jim

most times they warp so bad they will not seal a tubeless tire ,. and like others said , the steels temper is probably compromised ,. HOWEVER ,. 1964 , my dad had a ferguson DELUXE 35 catch fire from gas leak ,.it got one rear tire and both fronts ,,. the fire dept ,hosed it down hot , had to warp the wheels . all the wheels got new rubber put back on and she lookt pretty as new and ran another 5 yrs before Pop traded it on a 800 Case ,.. i learned the day of the FIRE to never get excited about seeing where the fire is again ,., the fire truk overtook the school bus on the way home.,. the bus load was just all excited to the point the driver told us to" pipe down ,..someone on here mite have real problems when they get home , if THEY STILL HAVE A HOUSE TO GO TO " its funny how even it the early of 1st grade one can recall words spoke over 50 yrs ago,.,. worst thing i remember was DADS hands bubbled up from the burns,..GOLLY,He was in pain that nite ,. , and no, He did not go to the hospital..Doc Seiple told mom how to sooth the burns over the phone , ice pax,.and sulpher . He Said .give John a choice , of pain killers,. pills? or whisky ? ,He CANT HAVE BOTH ..Well Dad didnt want to make a unnecessary trip in to town ,. LOL
