In 2 weeks will be going to Ashville NC. Looking for a factory tour or an interesting place to stop to maybe a factory tour or something between Lexington KY and Ashville. Two couple all older than 70 traveling. Thanks. J.

If you've never done the Biltmore---it is a bit pricey but worth it. Check for ticket discounts at your hotel, we got $10 off per ticket. There is a tour upgrade available for behind the scenes (mechanicals etc.) that I regret not doing.

We went two years ago, while we were on vacation, and caught the candlelight tour and then went back the next day for a regular tour. We also did all of the behind the scenes tours. A visit isn't complete without those as you get to see the inner workings of the house, as well as unrestored areas that are otherwise off limits.

There are several other attractions on the property beyond just the house. I can't remember what all the names are, but I know one is like an old barn/stable area that has old tractors and other farm implements on display. That's well worth the stop as well, especially since it's free.

If your into history, architecture, and just like to see cool old stuff, Biltmore is definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Do they have factory tours at the Toyota plant in Georgetown Ky? That's just on the north edge of Lexington.
