WAY O/T Any boiler gurus on here?

Looking to add an oil fired boiler as backup to my wood fired boiler. looking at approx 100kBTU.Some internet research has narrowed my choices down to the following.
Williamson Thermoflow
New Yorker CL
Crown boiler
Weil McLean
Aol recommendations, comments, or suggestions are welcome.

I mainly worked on cleaver Brooks and some trane but had one weil McLean and all I ever did was clean the fire eye and replace the igniter.

Being in the mechanical industry for over forty years I never heard of a Weil Mclean boiler. Perhaps you mean Weil-McLain. There are only two boilers I would recommend: Weil-McLain or Burnham. The rest are wanna be's.

You want expert advise on boilers, go to heatinghelp.com. I have had good luck with Slant Fin boilers.

We have a Burnham oil fired hot water system. No problems in the 15 yrs. since we got it. It is serviced every year by our local HVAC guys who put it in. It replaced a unit that had not been maintained, that unit had a clogged heat exchanger. When we first fired it up that first winter in this house it was blowing exhaust out the inspection port into the basement.

I have to second the suggestions to go to heating help com. Post on thier main board the wall and find a good heating guy near you. A fuel dealer is just that they typically will sell ok equipment but don't size real well or care about efficiency as much as a firm who sells equipment and service work. Why fuel oil anyways? I would bet a propane set up could be had a bit cheaper and the tanks would be outside and no worries about shelf life of fuel. A Weil McLain or Burnham are both good machines. I would want to know there are service and parts available for whatever you buy. As a heating guy myself I would recommend not buying online for this purchase who will carry the warranty and come out an install? Most guys won't touch it with a ten foot pole if bought online. Just my .02

Have a weil-mclain gold oil high efficiency boiler. Has been good and trouble free. Ours is used when the coal stove can't keep up. No complaints.
