Garden tractor ???

I was cleaning up my new to me last year International 582 S. It is the replacement for my 1050 cub. I have a 1961 or 62 International cub original and a 1963 John Deere 110.Did either brand achieve top market share in the mid seventies over you other well known brands like Bolens ,Snapper Jacobson and Simplicity just to name a few that were also well liked back then. It seem to be plenty of cub and John Deere around me from that era but not a lot of the other brands.

IH built over 500,000 Cub Cadets, then in 1982 MTD, aka The Cub Cadet Corp. took over and built a lot more.

Not sure how many L&G tractors Deere made.

I grew up about 20 miles east of Moline, Ill. lots of Cub Cadets around, lots of Deere's, especially with the company discount all the Deere employees got. No and I mean Zero Jacobsons, Snappers, very very few Bolens, and most of the Simplicity's were rear engine riders or the little lawn tractors. There was one Wheel Horse dealer and he must have been really lazy, never saw a Wheel Horse anywhere around.

I have four Cub Cadets. 52 year old model 70, 49 year old model 72, 37 year old 982, and a 1-1/2 year old CC Tank zero turn. Dad bought the 70 brand new in 1965, hard telling how many thousands of hours I put on it, wore out three 7&8 hp Kohler engines in it, I bought the 72 in 1981, bought the 982 in 2000. Had a 129 I bought as a basket case in 1990 and rebuilt/restored and sold in 2006. Cub Cadets are like Farmall M's and H's, no telling how long they'll last, but longer than Me is a given.
