I just read in 'Ageless Iron Almanac' that Roger is retireing. His column in this months issue will be his last. Also featured is the first column he wrote for'AIA'.We will miss his funny stories!

I always really enjoyed his "Postcards from Nebraska" feature on the CBS Sunday morning show. I especially remember the one he told about pick-ups. He described a real pickup as being at least 20 years old, rusty, banged up, with fencing tools, empty beer cans and God knows what in it. Then he said that you would no sooner drive another man's pickup than wear his underwear! He really knows us country folk!!

I'd also lost track of him, to my regret. When he wrote for another magazine quite a number of years ago, I remember his description of one guy as "...big as a John Deere combine but with fewer safety features." I still get a laugh about that one.

I'm no fan of his.

I was at a conference once where he was part of the "entertainment" He was crude and vulgar, and most of the ladies in the audience began looking uncomfortable about two minutes into his bit.

Too bad, I really enjoyed his postcards from Nebraska thing. I have several of his books.
