need guidence on buying new small tractor

I am in the market for a new tractor for my horse farm. 15 acres and 20 stalls. The local dealers are great and very helpful. I am looking at a 27hp tier 3 or a 33 hp tier 4 Kobota.
I drag our sand rings with a TR3 with the groomer attached. they recommend 27 hp as a minimum.
I need a small tractor for it needs to get into the horse turnouts and occasionally into the 30 yard dumpster to push back the manure.
I need it to push snow in the winter and work the farm in the summer. an enclosure with heat and air is a must.

I understand the tier 4 technology is not great with lower horse power diesels engines, your thoughts.

thanks for your help.

I would not put a lot of faith in advertised HP ratings. Some are pto others are at flywheel and some are bare engine ? all sort of ways to fudge the data.
Will the dealer let you take the tier 3 and see if it will do the job ? I'd rather stay away from the ones with DEF and regen and all that other bs. Is the tier 3 the one more like an older engine isn't it ?

Both Kubotas and he suggested the lower horsepower and he will demonstrate at my farm. As I said earlier, a real good guy and clearly wants to do the right thing for my farm.

You will find a hydro unit puts less hp tot he wheels than a gear drive one, I am sure for your app you want a hydro just make sure when you are demoing that machine will do your drawbar work well. I would also stress hard about counter weighting the tractor to offset the loader, my unclee bought this one new a few years back, when i unloaded it off the delivery truck I had to put it in 4x4 to go uphill with it with the one set of rear wheel weights it came with upon delivery. I had already order the max amount the warranty would allow for it but they had not come in when the tractor was delivered to the farm. As you will see for this machine I added twice the wheel weights to it to get it to not be dangerous when using the loader, many people load the rear tires with corrosive salt water,(CC) but I really hate the stuff so I chose iron weight, this one has been trouble free other than I replaced the battery once,

I have a 2015 Kubota L 3301 Tier 4 tractor and it has worked flawless. I have about 5.00 hours on
it. The harder you run it the less it regenerates. If I use it 3/4 open it goes around 30 hours
before it regenerates and then you keep on going. I have not notices a loss of HP during
regenration just a different noise from the exhaust and when it is done you can hear the sound
change to more of a roar. I have the shuttle shift transmission which is a gear drive

One thing I forgot The lower hp has a 2 stage clutch and that is what some dealers call live
power. The L 3901 has live power as I have been told

I've had a Kubota L3400 for 7 years. I've got about 500 hours on it, haven't had any issues. I am very happy with my machine. I have the
HST, and it is great for loader work. Dragging a ring won't be any work for the hst. I use mine for plowing snow, rototilling with a 72 inch tiller.
The hat gives you an infinite variety of speeds. And when using the loader, it reLly saves your leg! As far as tier 4 or 3, I don't really know. I'd
say that Kubota is very well engineered, I think that they would not release a inferior product.

I have a 2002 John Deere 28hp with loader. It is the most used tractor around my 24 acres. The other
farmers laugh when they see it lifting round bales or pulling 20ft hay wagons. You have to weight the
rears or hang an implement to make it work. Have to have 4x4, Hydro is a big plus with loader. You can
inch up to something and just kiss it without the worry of it rolling into something. Pallet forks not
the ones that hang off the bucket are a big plus also mine has them on about 80% of the time.

Assuming you are speaking of the B2650 vis a vis the B3350 (or possibly the L3301.

The federales have mandated Tier IV for anything above 30 PTO (I believe) HP. The B2650 and the L3301 come in below the current limit so can be sold without the DEF nonsense. The B3350 and L3901 are Tier IV.

I have 4 Kubotas including an L6060 and a M9960, both Tier IV. All have been flawless. I sometimes check the display on the 6060 and 9960 to determine if and when it regenerates. If I do not check the display, I do not notice when it does.

No, I do not like the Tier IV nonsense, and I especially do not like the significant added cost, but so far it has worked flawlessly.

If you install some bigger gates a larger tractor might be a lot more useful for your acreage.

Bigger is always better when you try to move a lot of snow or dirt/manure.

My feelings exactly. Please delete this post so I can go back to reading about the pros and cons of metal roofs, the shady exploits of auctioneers, and how under-appreciated car dealers are.

Traditionally, I have found seasoned users to be a great source of information and very helpful. Perhaps not in this case, sorry to have taken your time.

Remember, todays new tractor is tomorrow's "Yesterday's Tractor"!
