Looking into getting a Farmall M and tractor is missing the serial plate tag ? Ive added a photo of maybe help maybe not ? But does the holes in the grill help in any way on year? Ice seen early model Ms that don't have the holes?

That is a SuperMTA grill.so,you could have aLPTO and TA 'delete' SmtA(yes, they made em).Or you have an M with a transplanted grill. That is most likely. Need a pic of the brakes. Supers had dish brakes(6 bolt cover).Nonsupers mostly had band, however some Ms used a Lambert disk brake. That used 3 bolts on the cover. There is a date 'code' on the major castings. It looks like this: 9-27-T. That means: September 27,1950.. Find that code and post back,we can determine year.An M will have I through X(39 -52) or Sm/SMTA,Y through Z(53 -54) V was not used.

In the photo it looks like I see outboard choke rod and carb lever. That is what came on a regular M. Supers have choke rod and lever in board by the engine block. As others pointed out all things can be changed over the years. Stage II Super (as would be the case with the SuperMTA delete bla bla Delta is talking about) would have a battery box under the seat not under the gas tank. Casting code dates are your best clue.

If there is nothing behind the big holes in the grill, then the grill is not original. Also, the brakes appear to be the original, M drum brakes.
