New Junk at Auctions

Hi All -

Just wondering why so many auction houses are including cheap Chinese junk in their auctions nowadays (around here, anyway).

Seems like half or more always have cheap noname tool chests, greenhouses, fabric sheds, noname jacks and wrenches, etc... Seems like it is the same stuff over and over between all of them...

Are they just trying to pad their sales??

Haven't seen it around here, but I wouldn't blame the auction houses. They're simply making money off of what someone else consigned. That's the American way.

If you look at what Americans are buying nowadays that may help explain it. Probably half of our goods are now what I'd consider junk.

Maybe it just took awhile until it all made it to auction.

We've all seen where something on an auction will go for more then the price of new. So they put it on the auction hoping some of the items will sell higher then they are getting for them on the shelf at H.F.

I know exactly why, they can get it for less than they can sell it for, and that's the business they are in. Plain and simple, if no one buys it you can bet the practice will stop, but people do I'm sure so no reason not to.
