ih 444 diesel oil pressure

Rebuilt bd154 diesel with all new bearings and a new crank has about 42psi oil pressure when cold but after about 5 hours of mowing, the oil pressure drops to about 12 psi at idle. Runs about 30-32 psi at pto speed. I used 15w40 instead of 30w like the manual calls for. I used the original oil pump and cleaned it up and put a new gasket in it. Is this okay or should I replace the pump or use 30w oil?

Sorry I meant 24 psi at idle when cold.

The manual should have the oil pressure safe limits.

Those numbers don't sound too bad, but go by the book.

The gasket on the pump, are you talking about the cover gasket? Was it the same thickness as the original? Typically the cover gasket serves as a shim to set the end clearance for the gears. If a thicker gasket was used, that could be a problem.

The 15w-40 oil should be fine.
