Cannot get my fuel pump to pump fuel from the tank to the filter. Had to replace the fuel pump; is their anything special that needs to be done to move the fuel.

Try disconnecting the out line from the pump, crank it while feeling for the pump to move "something".

If it pumps air, there is a leak in the line between the pump and the tank.

If it pumps nothing, there is a restriction between the pump and tank, or the pump is not working.

Try removing the in line. Crank it over, feel for the pump to move air. If nothing, something is wrong with the pump or installation.

Diesel tech has it but to state it differently, the pump runs off a cam shaft lobe. If the camshaft is in just the wrong position when you make the change it is possible to get the pump drive arm of the wrong side of the camshaft so nothing happens.

Have already used compressed air thru all lines. Didn't see anything that would block the lines. Thanks.

Thanks. I'll try it this weekend. Do I have to take the fuel pump off and then turn it over and replace the pump.

are you sure there isn't something in the tank not letting the fuel flow out take off the cap and blow the fuel line back to the tank and if that helps well then you have a tank to clean out good luck

You have to remove it but you don't turn it upside down. I have had a few of these off, but can't recall whether it goes over or under the camshaft. Just hold it in your hand and see which way the actuating arm has to move in order to operate. If it has to go down it must go under the camshaft. If it has to go up it must go in above the camshaft.
