Antique machinery heading down the road

I decided that with my accumulation of old machinery I have more than enough projects for my lifetime so sold some of it to someone who needs/wants it. Loaded it up this morning, some that hasn't seen daylight for a few years. Fellow came over 600 miles to get it.

Glad its not headed to the scrap yard.

More and more of us in our mid-late 60's or older are starting to shed the "projects" that are never going to be done. Was at an antique auto swap meet yesterday, and a guy of that age had an early '50's convertible on a trailer. He said his dad had bought it in 1971 (that's 46 years ago, folks) to restore together- they had never done it, dad had died some years ago, and son said he was getting too old to do a full restoration project, so it was going down the road.

Time is relentless.

Yes. I agree. Those projects that I intended to get started on "someday" have been pushed off into the corner, out of the way. I no longer take on projects that cannot be completed in just a few days.

Good for you for getting it passed on before it is too late. I am 68 and I haven't passed much on yet, but an hour or so ago when I picked up a tool that came from my father, that I don't use often, I thought about what will be it's future. It is something that when you need it you need it but half the people on the planet today would not know what to call it let alone what to use it for.

I wish more folks would realize that they ain't gonna get all the projects done. 2 guys around here ,one is 72 other is 83, both ran tractor repair shops forever. 72 year old is closed and selling off parts inventory, but not his projects ( dozens of em) even when offered a fair price. 83 year old is still selling parts and working in shop some. He helped me with axle seals on a Ford 640 couple weeks ago. But he still don't want to sell any of his projects. I've tried to buy some stuff at a fair price,no go. I'm only 46 and my wife enjoys working on tractors with me. We could get em running again .........

My neighbor has 35 JD?s of different models. I think 7 of them run. Always says he?ll got to them, I don?t think he has enough years or money to do it. My Wife says if I leave her with all of my 8N parts tractors she will compost my ashes. Anyone need parts, I have more than I need?
