Old Ford Truck

Some will have already seen this latest video I put together but in case there are any old Ford truck enthusisasts that missed it, here is the link. Its the truck I learned to drive (and fix) on back in the late 1960s. Had a lot of fun and learned a lot about getting (and keeping) an old vehicle running. Probably where my addiction to flathead Fords started. I see many refer to this style as the "jailbar Ford" due to the vertical grille bars.
No, its not being restored. Just another ornament for the yard.

(quoted from post at 07:42:20 09/24/17) Nice video. My Grandpa had one of those. It made my day to get a ride in it,
Thanks. That old truck was my first set of wheels (with its own engine) and it made my day many times too.
Forgot to mention that the chassis was converted into the big two wheeled trailer that I haul bales with now. So in many ways, its still with me.

(quoted from post at 08:04:02 09/24/17) Kind of tricky to hit second gear just right.
Yes, and double clutching was a necessary skill I learned early on these old non synchro transmissions. One starting trick I learned early when the starter solenoid was failing was to kick the inside of the firewall while I pushed the starter button. Many times that worked to make contact to the starter. I think eventually I saved up enough to buy a new solenoid for it.

you can also wire the headlites up and use them for lite at nite either from a battery or just put regular house lite bulbs behind plexi glass pieces that will be held in by the trim rings

I'm hoping to eventually get some type of light working in those headlights. Currently I am searching for the small inner hold down rims that hold the sealed beam in place. Tried one from a GMC which fits but the screw holes don't line up.

(quoted from post at 09:13:54 09/25/17) Pretty funny you arc welded the fender repairs . They don't make 'em like that anymore . Arc welded Ha !
Actually I've heard it said that the reason those older trucks and cars had cracked fenders was because they were heavy gauge metal. The newer, thinner metal rarely cracks. It just rusts away. It was common to see welding on the fenders of the older vehicles.
