monster wood chipping machines

Morbarkinc.com has the largest and first to build them. I retired from there in 2012. They have factory tours and videos on web site.

Saw all sorts of Morbark stuff headed south on the way to Tennessee Friday. Whole chippers, multiple truckloads of huge chipper and tub grinder parts to be assembled on site. Assuming they are headed to Texas to grind up houses.

My friend developed CBI grinders and chippers. They have a different more efficient drum design that gives them better fuel economy and reserve power for short heavy loads. He sold the company out to Terex or maybe the parent company two years ago. He sold a lot of them in Europe and South America. He employed two tractor pullers in the shop.

Yup,that's what went through my mind. I should have told you about it when you were here Jim. It's north of me just a little ways. You could have come right down by there and stopped in.

There was one of those at the logging Congress, aka "great lakes equipment expo" last weekend. Times certainly have changed from the days of piece cutting

A few years ago we went on a central MN factory tour...various companies have tours showing what they make...one that we went to was the Rotochopper plant- small town (pop, 50?) about 20 miles away. Got there too late for the demo, but went thru the factory. They ship worldwide. Busy day- went to a bus factory, print shop, wood doors, moulding, etc., granite company. Annual event with different companies each year.
