Hitches Categories 77 Kubota L185DT

I'm a little confused on what hitch to get for my 77 Kubota L185DT tractor. Does anyone know what category my tractor is, so I get the right one? Even drawbars are categorized. The 2" receiver hitch on my 9N bolts to the drawbar, but I kinda like the ones I'm seeing that are all one unit. Just looking for a hitch I can pull a trailer with, or anything a 2" receiver can hold.
Thanks for any help or advice.

What kind of hitch are you talking about?

Are you adding a drawbar or a 3pt hitch to the tractor? If so you should only have one choice: The OEM factory parts, which would be available from the Kubota dealer or off a salvage tractor.

Look to the left,on the Research&info section. Thre you will find pin size, width, lift capacitys......All the info you will need.

Sorry, I guess I meant the hitch for accessories like this one.

Go with a class 5 draw bar for that type of trailer mover and it will handle more than the mover or the tractor most likely.

And like so many things that is a very dangerous design. It puts the hitch way to far back and takes the steering off the front wheels. It can be modified to make it safer by cutting the top off and welding on in reverse so the frame of it sets in between your lift arms instead of out in bacl of them. Doing that would put your hitch point just a bit back of where it would be with a standard 11 hole cross drawbar and you know they are far enough back already to when you put a heavy load on the hitch and start to pull rour front end will come off the ground. The way they have it designed it will move that hitch location back several inches to make a hitch load only half as heavy bring that front end up. Can you add about 4 suitcase weights on the front to counter balance the over to far back hitch load. Good Idea if it would be modified to make it safe. It is like pulling fron the top link to roll the tractor over backwards. As is it should be banned from sale as a danger.

What I find interesting is the L185DT weighs around 1800 lbs, but is supposed to be able to lift 2200 lbs at the end of the lift arms. Unless you are only moving light weight, empty trailers I wouldn't use that hitch. My late uncle had a L260 Kubota, and that thing was scary with the factory draw bar with a 16' tandem axle trailer that had 50 square bales on it.

The trailer in question is a small 4' X 5' cordwood trailer. It's very easy to adjust the load so there is hardly any tongue weight. I have the same hitch on my 9N and have never felt unsafe with it. For me, the only thing troubling about it is the swinging right and left of the 3 point hitch on the 9N when I'm backing up. Kinda tosses the trailer around. I have no intentions of overworking my tractor or the hitch. The 2" receiver is great, as it opens up so many options to hook up to it.
The Kubota is new to me, and I don't even have it home yet, so I haven't taken the time to see how far the rear wheels are to the 3 point hitch. But I would say, as far as the 9N goes, if I reversed the top so it was over the arms, my trailer would hit the rear tires.
I'm small time compared to you folks. Just use my tractors mostly for getting wood to the splitter, and plowing snow.
Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like you need some stabilizers for the lift arms. On the L260 my dad made a front weight bracket for it, with the extra 250lbs out front it really helped it steer a lot better with a loaded trailer behind it (something you may want to consider).
