The bolt that holds the park latch to the back of the transmission housing in the 2-135 White broke off. My son and I tried for an hour and a half with everything we could think of and couldn't get it out. Tdoctor said you have to pull the engine, take out a freeze plug in the front of the transmission and go in and drill it out with a long, left handed bit and reversible drill. For now,we just took the bolt out of the bottom of the rod and took the latch and springs off.

I worked all morning today getting the bolt and washer fished out, flushing everything out and putting it back together. I had it all back together, top back on the transmission, all the lines and hoses back on,brake cylinder back on,all but putting the floor back in. I started it up to check for leaks then discovered I couldn't shift it. I had the clutch pedal held down with a turn buckle,so I loosened that up hoping if the shaft was turned a little it would go in. No such luck. Here's where I admit that I didn't hook the park linkage back up. Don't need it,right? The park lock won't work anyway.

I took it all back apart, was ready to lift the top back off the transmission, all I had to do was lift the park latch rod back out. When I did,I saw the notches in it and it dawned on me that the shift forks had to slide between those notches. I reached up and bumped the shift and it went right in to gear. I got up in the seat, put the rod back in and pushed and pulled til it was in the sweet spot and it shifted alright. To heck with it,as long as I was in that far I wasn't taking any chances. I lifted the top off and put a bolt in the hole with a rubber washer on top and a nut and lock washer on the bottom.

I finally got done about three o'clock with a job that would have been done at noon if I had just put the pin back in the linkage in the first place. I got quite an education there.

I have thought that if I had a daily blog, it would be titled "If I only had a brain".
I took the end cap off a 1/6 electric motor. I worked for about an hour trying to get it back on. I then dis assembled the end cap and had it together in 5 minutes.
Go figure.

I've got a bad habit of thinking everything is a serious problem that requires lots of work to fix (some times it does too). A little checking and some serious thought before doing some thing big can save a lot of time and money in the end plus help keep the blood pressure in check.

But now, you'll never do that again. And, that is how we learn with something new we have never done before. Glad you got it straightened out, for now.
