Where's Old

I think he got a new computer on Windows 10, and it barely recognizes dial-up, which is all he has access to. I guess its a real hassle for him to post, so he is not posting as much as he did.

@nd try to post this. I now have a new HP piece of junk Windrows 10 computer which it not dial up friendly. It replaced my old Dell computer with windrows XP and had fire fox on it. This new computer is a replacement from Direct TV which I have insurance with to cover stuff like TVs and computers etc. My 2n computer with Windrows XP died this summer about a mouth ago when the power company shut me off then back on so the computer I had died. Been fighting with direct TV over the old computer which they are suppose to fix or replace but they can not get the shipping correct on it and I am about ready to talk to my state A.G. about this insurance and see if maybe they can kick some one in the back sides and get it right

OK my friend, I'm glad you're not sick or anything. I know how trying a darned computer can be. It will get better once you get the hang of it.

Well for a while I thought I had it figured out then it slowed down again and so far not found how to speed it up. Took me 2 plus hours to check things on Y-T and that was at 11pm when the net should be slow so my speed should have been good but it wasn't

Did you have a surge protector on your old computer, if you did the surge protector didn't do its job. If you are hooked up to a phone line it should have a surge protector also. As small hobby I put desk top computers together, and install the operating system. The new computer should be able to be reformatted, and have windows xp installed in it. If the power surge didn't kill your old hard drive, your old computer just may need a new mother board, processor, and or the memory replaced. Dell maybe able to fix you old computer if its not too far gone, or find someone who works on old computers. If it was a lap top computer they usually don't repair them, its usually cheaper to replace those.

I have 3 surge protectors hooked up and one was new the day I hooked up the 2nd computer which just died a month ago. Also has the phone line protector but something still happened to make it died. But the Dell computer did have a problem with the one fan and if it spun up to fast you had t shut it down and hold down on the fan so it would power up correctly. We found the fix to the fan thing on the net and it showed what to do to fix it as a Band-Aid fix

just a question could ya take the puter to someone and have them change the windows 10 to a earlier windows version? I have a brand new dell desk top ive never opened cause it has windows 10 on it. this old one keeps on plugging along. Every now and then when it goes into standby it will shut down for some reason
