NAPA Brand motor oil

(quoted from post at 09:44:44 09/06/17) My NAPA mechanic thinks it is Valvoline under NAPA label. Packaged at same refinery.

Just like batteries, we used to get Standard brand batteries for heavy equipment, I went to pick one up, and it didn't have a label on it yet. They grabbed the battery, rolled it down a conveyor to where they had something like 10 boxes with different decals (NAPA, Exide, Standard, Reliable, etc). They grabbed one Standard battery decal, slapped it on the battery, and handed to me. The exact same battery with a Exide decal cost twice as much (expensive decal).

I have used it for years. On the back of the bottles, it said Ashland Oil Co. as the manufacturer. Same as Valvoline, or at least it has in the past.

lots of stuff is made by company a sold to company b put company b label on it while next in line might be labeled c or d.

My BIL was plant engineer for Darigold, and they did the same thing. Butter machine had a label dispenser on it- operator would get a list of orders, count out the number of such and such labels for the first order, package butter until the labels were gone, then add the proper number of the next label, and so on. Everything came from the same vat.

when I used to change my own vehicle oils I bought whatever was on sale. never had an engine problem related to oil.

I use it as a break-in oil for all my rebuilt engines. It is a very good oil. I keep 4 or 5 cases all the time. It is refined by Valvoline in Ashland,Ky. I can buy it for about 4 dollars a gallon less than Rotella or Delvac.

Same thing with water heaters. I took one in for a warrantee replacement. After putting it on the truck the guy asked me what brand it was then handed me a decal and said "Put this on it". That's why when you but a new one there's always a hole cut in the box. Private label manufacturing is everywhere.

Some NAPA oil is made by Valvoline. The old Napa parts man I have known for years tells me that.

I use the NAPA brand in my truck, lawn mower, garden tiller, etc. I was told by the experienced guy behind the counter that it IS Valvoline. It is as good as any, better than some.

The old guy who owns the fertilizer plant told me it's the same thing with Roundup. Brand name, generic,it's all from the same batch.

Yep, Valvoline, worked for them for 20 years.

Kow Farmer- That's the name I hired in under...Ashland Oil Inc.

A small refinery started by Paul G. Blazer in Catlettsburg, KY.

Worked with Valvoline for 20 years. We did package oil under the NAPA brand...and many others...we just used their recipe of additives to add to the base stock to make their brand of oil.

Except in the most extreme cases keeping it changed regular is more important than what you are changing it with. Keep your oil changed every 3000 miles and Super Tech 2000 is pretty good.

And if you do keep it exactly perfect to the line on the dipstick, stay away from steep hills and brake easily and gently.

I use Napa 0w20 full synthentic in my truck and wife's car. I can buy it for 2.99 per quart.
