W-30 clutch disk - I bought the "lining kit" with rivets; not much trouble getting off with a rivet punch; not sure how to put lining back on - without damage to the lining! Any of you done this?

Don't know how you'd do it with a punch. Some of the old shops used to have a C shaped, arbor,I guess you'd call it,that could be set to the depth that you wanted the rivets.

On deere brake pads I use a roll pin punch. The rivits are hollow on the end so it rolls them nice.

ok...I "may" try a roll pin punch; punch should have a bevel tip so the rivet roles back; I didn't know if they made a tool just for this or not...I will call the top number tomorrow- either way I may have to have a neighbor come help me hold it! Thanks!

Clutch rivets usually are not the roll type crimp they are a split type crimp. At least where there is lining on both sides it gives more surface area for the rivet. You should also alternate some in from one side and some in from the other side.

yes...I seen that....will do and didn't think about the "split rivet"...makes sense...so use a "roll pin punch" ?

Well...got er done. Had my neighbor come over and he held it -one rivet at a time- on a 3/8 bolt clamped in a vise. Used a "role pin"...seems to be tight and worked well. Hope I never do another one! Thanks for all your help. :)
