Blue loctite

I've been having a problem with my grandfather clock with loosing the minute hand since the little nut always works itself off and then the hand falls off. So I put a drop of blue loctite on to hold the nut. Low and behold my clock no longer works. The mechanism is now stiff and nothing moves. I've removed the nut and minute hand and whatever loctite I can, but I need something to disolve the loctite that has found it way inside. Any ideas as I've lost my tick-tock!

Most people use waaaay tooo much Loctite for the application. That's why that little bottle cost $15.00. Only need a drop. Might try some of the stuff called Goof Off if you can get into the tight spots. Might be a job for a professional.

Loctite makes a remover liquid. Might have to go somwhere like
Grainger to get it. Never see it in stores anymore. From a machinist
board, super glue solvent should work. Limited results with acetone.
Methyl ethyl ketone is needed. A little different formula but still a
cyano acrylate like super glue.
Solvent.

Even if you melt it with solvent, real good chance it will stick again when the solvent evaporates.

Maybe follow with some oil, that might prevent it, but likely it will need to come apart to clean everything up.

Locative makes a formula for small machine screws. It is purple in color and comes in a small plastic dropper.

Ah hah! And what brand of tractor is this? :) Teasing- I have had some off the wall subjects also; but really if this clock has any value to you , family or otherwise, I would take it to a "clock shop" and have it fixed right.
I can fix a lot of things - but some things I don't mess with. Good luck!

Just throwing out an idea, but what about a brass wire brush in a dremel tool? The brush might heat up the Loctite enough for the bristles to whisk the blues away. Would have to have a steady hand, but might be worth a thought of last resort.
