was wondering if any of u people in the Clinton Appleton City Mo area have us cellular service have about had it with Verizon. thanks in advance.

I left US cell due to their poor service. Their answer to poor cell reception was always that the phone needed reprograming. voice mails were delayed up to a week before getting them. Had to turn off & on the ph to get voice mails to come through. To say I was VERY disappointed with US Cell would be right. Been with Verizon 4 yrs so far. They are not perfect but much better than US cell.

Wow! You could actually make that post, with THAT word in it, and it didn"t get poofed? It"s long overdue.

I use the Great Call Jitterbug. They say that their "truck line" supplier of choice is Verizon. For 25 bucks a month and 600 minutes, a super deal. No complaints. On Verizon, sad fact. They installed Fiber Optic cables in all their service connections out here just before the epidemic of the smart phone hit. Nobody uses land lines any more. Lost a ton of money on that deal.

I left US Cell back in the mid 90s and never looked back. Been with Verizon 20 years and haven't had any trouble.

Our first cell phones (20 years ago) were with U.S. Cellular. We experienced way too many dead zones, so we switched to Cellular 29 and got rid of those dead zones. Cellular 29 then morphed into Chat-Mobility. The service was O.K., but I had some issues with people when it was time to renew and upgrade. No consideration was given to the fact that we were long time customers. Switched to Verizon about 5 years ago, and been happy ever since.

Check into Consumer Cellular.com I have been extremely happy with them. They have all sorts of plans . We have two smartphone and at the present time our bill s only $32 with 2000 texts, 1500 minutes talk and I think 1500 gis of data. Going up or down is easy and only a few bucks difference. Have had many plans over the years and this is the best. Also there is a company called Republic cellular that is simmiliar and rebates you your unused data, etc.

I have had Us Cellular for many years. Thinking of switching. I have had good service throughout the country as I have been driving OTR for most of a year. Data Service is pretty expensive. We have a family plan with 6 of us on it. My son just took a new job driving up to Minnesota from Central Iowa nightly. He says when he gets to MN he goes to roaming, and that is fairly costly. He is trying to convince me to switch. Going to see how it works for him, before doing anything. I forgot who he is considering.

I can add, Yes to Consumers Cellular. Have been with them at least 8 years. Like HenryO said, very good.
It was started by a couple men that wanted to provide 'elders' with low cost service, not all whistles & bells.
Now days they do offer all the latest phones plus simple ones. use mostly ATT towers.

We HAD Verizon; signed with them via Radio Shack. Welp, Verizon built a new tower right off I-35 (Iowa) about a mile from our place and every time someone using Verizon passed that tower, we were booted off. Their solution? Gave me their engineers office number in Olathe, Kansas. I gave them our last bill, refusing in the store to pay it and got threatening and LOUD. You see, every time we got kicked off, we were automatically charged for a 'connection' that didn't go through. Manager went into the back room and when he came back, claimed he was 'authorized' to pay my bill IF I dropped Verizon. Have had U.S. Cellular for over 15 years now and the only place we didn't have service was in the Mountains of Colorado. We run down to Northwest Arkansas yearly (family) and have never had a problem. Verizon would have us on 'Roam' if we went as far as Omaha.

I am in the NE corner and have used USC all over the country. The wife has a prepaid plan that only works in our area, but $30.00 a month unlimited everything. Coverage has been good, just check the plans and look at the online coverage maps for your carrier.

For several years I had Verizon but it got kind of pricey for two phones, so I switched to US Cellular and kept my numbers (ported) until they sold off their Midwest area that included Indiana, Illinois, and I think Michigan to Sprint. One day both cell phones just quit working because Sprint didn't automatically pick up my service which I found out when I called US Cellular. They bad mouthed Sprint pretty bad and suggested that I switch cell service to someone other than Sprint and US Cellular was out of the question since they sold off their network to Sprint. The guy that I spoke to from US Cellular asked me if I would like to "suspend" my account while I was shopping for a new carrier, so I said OK. "Suspend" to US Cellular means "cancel" and "stop" and "close" accounts which the guy didn't explain. What a joker that guy was. When I tried to start an account with a new carrier, they told me that the two numbers that I had for almost two decades that ended with "1500" and "4499" went back into Verizon's pool of numbers since they originally belonged to them and since US Cellular closed those accounts, I couldn't get the numbers back. Now I'm back to Verizon again and have two numbers that I can never remember. Thanks for nothing US Cellular.

several years back a old friend and i got back to talking and one day she asked me if i had a cell phone and i said no when i went into retirement and closed the shop i did away with cell phones . She got all upset because i was farming and going to the fields by myself and NO CELL phone , she said well What I something happened and i said they will find me when the Buzzard circle . she did not think that was funny and insistend that i have a cell , I am in Ohipo and she was in Lebelle Mo. SHE sent me a U S cellular cell phone , Now i had Sprint for may years , mywife had A T & T Then Back to Sprint I will tell you this That U S Cellular was the BEST phone i ever had , It beat Sprint , It beat AT &T and it beat Verizon hands down , There was no place that i did not have a signal , for me the closest US Cellular store was in Cinncy 284 miles from me as i live in N/E Ohio , If the wife and i were in Wal Marts at the back of the store and one of the kids called her phone would ring but you would not hear or be able to talk , well the kids wpould call on my Mo. 3 and it was Cristal clear , I would get down in the hill's south of me and nobody had service BUT I DID , Go out to the little local watering hole on friday evening for fish and here again nobody in the place had service , BUT i did . I do not think you will be disappointed with U S Celluar.

These off-brand cellular services don't have their own infrastructure. They are just RESELLERS of the major services Verizon, AT&T, Sprint.

Depending on the model phone you buy, you are put on one of the major service networks. Different phones go on different networks because they are old obsolete models purchased as surplus from the major providers.

If you choose the wrong phone for your area you could end up on a network with little or no coverage. That's why service is great for some of you and awful for others.
