question about salvaged poultry buildings

Has anyone experience with putting up a salvaged poultry building as a shed? The ones I see for sale have steel scissor trusses and are 40 foot wide. You can put them on taller posts and make a hay shed or whatever. Seems like it may be an economical alternative for some hay storage. Any thoughts?

I know of 2 here in our area and they have held up well. If you have a lot of snow, I would put in a few center supports or maybe cables between your outside posts side to side.

I put up a 40x60 almost 30 years ago. Held up well. Built with telephone poles and reused the roofing. Snow slides slowly off when the sun hits it. One thing you should do is spray the trusses with a strong fungicide to prevent mold issues.

I have used those type trusses for a shop and a garage. Same company built mine that builds the poultry house trusses.
I just called them and gave them my measurements. Those trusses worked fine for my buildings.

I looked at them some the snow load is to much for them here, I do believe and the freight would be a bit much also. I had thought of using them as a load back to the house when I was down there. Just figured I would have to have about half the distance between trusses for them to hold because of that. Also wanted more like 60 foot wide. Thought about if I was to put 2 together to widen them also.
