OT: Bank Security question - funny

I have a spreadsheet with all of our online acct stuff, you know, URL's, user names, pw's (coded) , security question answers. Anyway, yesterday I tried to log onto a bank site. Couldn't get in and the login page looked different. Looked at the file and found a new username and PW and remembered my wife saying she got a message that said they were changing their site requiring new registration. I typed in the info and got to the Security Question, looked at the file which said "mother's maiden name". I typed my MIL's maiden name. No go. Typed MY mother's maiden name. No go. Went and found my wife and asked her. She said "mother's maiden name". I told her I tried that, both of them. She said "No, it's 'mother's maiden name' Those exact words". :lol: I made a face and started to ask "why...", thought better of it, went and was able to log on. It made a dull day a little less dull.
 
My middle son is in college, but works as a summer intern for my company in IT. Says you would not believe the number of people still using "Password" as their pass word for some of the programs.

I like to use past addresses- gives you the number and capital and lower case letters. And I can usually remember where I moved to next, so when ours are force-changed every 90 days, I can keep up.
 
I set all my passwords to incorrect so if I
am wrong it tells me my password is
incorrect.
 
I also have the 90 day forced password change. I use the make and model of whatever tractor I am fancying at the moment.
 
I would be suspicious of a bank sending that kind of note. You may have been "fished" and someone now has all your info!
 
I don't have the forced change, but I use various cars and pickups I've owned. Easy to remember, but very hard for someone else to guess.
 
I got a similar thing decades ago and I called the bank to confirm. It was ligit and they talked me through the process.
 
The ones I hate are like this,

must contain at least 13 characters
must contain at least 1 capital letter
must contain at least 1 lower case letter
must contain at least 1 number
must contain at least 1 symbol

and then they force a change every month or two.
