Minnie Mo Jet Star

Got back last night from a trip down near Fergus Falls. Sure didn't want to make the drive, but was well worth it in the end. Met some nice folks and ended up buying an older skid loader. Had planned on going last weekend but am actually thankful that those plans fell through. Come to find out, the place I bought it from has quite a selection of older tractors for sale. Some are in fair condition, while some are show-ready. As we're not used to making these kinds of road trips, I wanted to get more photos, but just didn't have it in me. So only got pics of this Jet Star before leaving the first day. Stayed the night in Fergus Falls, then loaded up the next day and made the trek back.

Before I post the pics, he also had some others I wanted VERY much to get photos of!! Heading out that first day, I nearly twisted my neck off trying to figure out what this one small tractor was. Ended up being an old Zetor "25" in fairly good condition. Near it was an old David Brown, an old Volvo, and others. These were wearing decent-looking daily clothes - looked a sight better than 'work clothes', but not fixed up for show condition. Anyway, I kept commenting on the Jet Star as we were coming in. Finally I couldn't help myself and asked how much he was asking for it. He said $3,500. Wife and I both looked at each other. I was trying to figure that out, as it looked like a lot of time and undoubtedly some parts went into this little gem, not to mention the paint job.

Well, I do have to say that whoever did the paint job got a little over-spray here and there, but then later found out it was a 70-year-old man who, if I understood correctly, has since passed away. There was also a JD A and some other older tractors, but my eyeballs kept being drawn to this one so can't remember the others offhand. Was hurting pretty bad both days so didn't get to take more pics like I planned to.

Well OK, without further adieu, here's the Jet Star that kept me mesmerized:

Hmm, don't know how I made the first pic post twice. Anyway, when he told me the price, I asked him what was wrong. He said nothing. Wife and I looked at each other, both knowing that most likely there was that much in parts and labor put into the machine. Heck, if we had any need for it, I would've had him put a bow on it!!

With all the talk of the upcoming Rollag show, I should mention that this guy is very near there - just on the other side of Fergus Falls, in Foxhome, MN. A place called Hwy. 210 Equipment. It's only about a mile west of Foxhome, and very easy to find. He works for the Hwy. Dept, so can be a little difficult to get ahold of sometimes, but he and his son sure were nice!! Was a pleasure to meet and chat with them. Anyway, if anyone happens to be going to Rollag and wants to take home a little souvenir, I can't think of a better one than this little Jet Star! ...Ok, ok...if you're a JD fan, the JD A was show-quality also, but this one.......well, guess the fancy dress clothes on the Star just caught my eye.

I don't know what the value of a Jet Star like this would be, but I sure would have thought this price to be low! In any case, if anyone going to Rollag is interested, drop me an email (open in Modern View) and I'll pass on his contact info.

I would say he's a little high, no
three point or hydraulics, mismatched
tires, wrong grill screen, and paint.
They are handy tractors with a three
point.

I'm actually glad there wasn't 3-pt. Might've had to end up bringing it home! *lol*

Thanks for pointing out the screen. I haven't followed MM's very much. Tried looking up a photo, but not many pics I found in a quick search that showed good detail of the screen.

Definately not the correct colors and that
is a terrible version of the brown. I'd
also say he is awful high. Back tires are
worn out fronts are car tires, it has an
alternator instead of the original
generator plus lots of other little issues.

Thank you Mr. Pittman. I had hoped that there would be a little more interest than this, but as I mentioned, I know little to nothing about MM's, but also like the look and colors. If it had a 3-pt., I would've definitely been switching over from a Husqvarna riding mower to this with an estate mower behind it!

Am curious though - even if it had all the right colors and all the correct "little things", yet still with no 3-pt, what would it be worth?

Up here in "No Man's Land", used equipment sells for much more than most other places. The skid loader I just got would, in most areas, only fetch around $4k to $5k. I paid just under $6k and am thrilled, as the same loader up here would cost considerably more - as high as $8k or so.

As another example of prices between here and the "real" world, a whole watermelon here costs $7 to $8 right now. In Fergus Falls, one costs $2.49, and even looks better. We have no tractor shows or parades, so nobody up here (that I've seen anyway) takes the time to fix up older machines. When they break down, they simply sit and rust away - and no, the owners normally won't sell you the scraps.
