IH 350U Low Oil pressure

I have an IH 350U tractor with low oil pressure (less than 10 psi at idle and only about 16 psi at 1000 rpms). I changed the oil, filter, and pressure gauge to see if that was the problem; it was not. Without getting all the way into the engine, would I be able to get away with just rolling in a new set of bearing on the mains and the rods and new gears on the oil pump. The topend seems to be ok. I have between 120-125 psi on all 4 cylinders which makes me think the rings are all ok and the top is good. I am trying to keep from doing a complete inframe. I am using 30w oil

Only way to know is look inside. bearings except camshaft bearings can be checked from bottom. Oil pump from bottom also. If the oil pan is bent from hitting something? Got one like that once with oil pressure about like yours. Had cracked the oil pump body below oil pump mounting bolts. Oil pump drive shaft was still holding gear end on. Since pump pressure goes up the pump body pressure was lost before getting to oil gallery.

You could mic the crank and see what you
have. If it allows for it, you could roll
in .002 under bearings to take up some
slack. Also, can't remember on the 350's
for sure, but I believe there is a gasket
between the main body and the "cover" of
the oil pump that can allow it to suck air.
