6.2 ford f250

A little off base here but this site helps me a bunch.
Looking at f250 with a 6.2 gas in it.
Been a power stroke person for a long time. Not running the miles like I use to and pulling heavy.
Just wondering what others may have come across for mileage and work ability compared to the power stroke.
It is a 2017.

The mileage on my 2016 Power Stroke sucks when unloaded, I am lucky to get 17, but it only drops to 14 when loaded, my 2011 would do 20 unloaded and drop to 14 loaded.

On my second one at work, first one was a 2014 it has well over 190.000 and the only thing done was front brakes. 2017 seems to be just as good--- The 2014 had 4.11 and pulled much better and got better fuel mileage than the new one with 3.73 rears but the 2017 rides much better.

I bought a 2016 F250 with the 6.2 last December. I've previously had a number of diesels but with the repairs and depreciation that come with Tier 4 emissions I had enough. Now since I bought the truck diesel has been 10 cents a liter cheaper but that's the only downside so far. I burn about 10% more unloaded and 20% more towing but I get in and go. No more worries about driving down the road and 'bing' the check engine light comes on followed by possible derate and multiple expensive trips to the dealer. Services come sooner but a lot cheaper also. I drive a little slower, it sure doesn't accelerate up a hill while towing like the diesel, but I drive happier. Good luck, Sam

I have a 2015 with the 6.2 and 3:73 gears. Empty I get 13.5 miles per gallon. Pulling a 6000 trailer I go down to around 10 1/2. My 2013 was the same. Nice trucks with good ride. Obviously it wont pull as well as a diesel but it is not a dog either and gets the job done. The 6 speed transmission helps. Unless you are running a lot of miles per year, you will come out ahead with the gas engine.

Same here, except I average 10-11 empty with mud tires leaving the hubs locked. Probably loaded 1/2 the time. With factory street tires it was getting 13-14 hubs unlocked.

As for riding good? maybe compared to a lumber wagon.

It will pull anything the diesel will, but you will be turning 4000+ rpms to do it, and miles per gallon turns into gallons per mile.

I would buy the same truck again as economically it makes more sense than the diesel.

I bought a 2016 in October 2015. Have under 13000 miles on it (22 months). On long vacation trips, will run 14 to 15 mpg. Local is 12 to 13. Pulling my 14k tongue hitch trailer hauling my 5000lb U moline, 7 to 9. Pulls good but does it thru gears. Will maintain 70 mph on the interstate but at times in the hills will be in 4th gear at 4000 rpm to maintain.

We have a 6.7 diesel in a 2011 F450. Empty it gets about 13 MPG, loaded it gets about 6 MPG (or less). The original engine self destructed at 95K miles - the Ford replacement engine (not a long block - entire "new" engine - including turbo) gets the same mileage.

Same driver used an owner's Dodge 3500 with Cummins, he got 17 empty and 10 loaded - the Dodge already had 170K when we borrowed it.

With that first hand experience I would go with a gas Ford any day.

I have a 2017 with 3.73 gearing. Getting 13 or so empty on average, have not pulled anything with it yet. Highway mileage is 14.5 or so.
